Meet Our Business Administrator

Business Administrator Denise Cerince joined our church office staff in July of 2002. She has been serving First Presbyterian Church Garden Grove faithfully since then. Denise has become our “Girl Friday,” wearing so many hats that we are often amazed at what she accomplishes in only 30 hours weekly. Denise is the gracious presence who greets mid-week office visitors, the friendly and knowledgeable voice who answers the phone, and the problem-solver who oversees all church business.


Education: BS in Business Administration-Human Resource from California State University, Long Beach.


Previous business experience: Denise spent about 19 years in retail before deciding to put that behind her and stay home with her children when they were just 3 and 8 years old. She was able to take and pick them up from school and had jobs that worked around this schedule.


Types of responsibilities at FPCGG:

  • Utilizing Media Shout, prepares the information and graphics projected on Sanctuary screens to enhance the participation of the congregation during worship;
  • Utilizing Publisher, prepares the printed worship service bulletin;
  • Utilizing Quicken, manages the church finances, keeping track of both income and expenses, paying the bills and looking for ways to minimize expenses;
  • Utilizing Church Windows as Chief Financial Secretary, documents donations and compiles yearly records;
  • Compiles accurate data for payroll service;
  • Produces video, complete with appropriate music, to highlight an event or memorialize a life;
  • Updates church web-site with audio of weekly sermons, daily calendar of events, and pictures and current happenings where appropriate;
  • Monitors security cameras to assist with campus supervision;
  • Supervises both our Custodian and our Shower Ministry Coordinator
  • Manages the rental of campus facilities by other non-profits;
  • Directs maintenance and repair of both office equipment and campus facilities;
  • Sends weekly e-mail reminders of worship details to help congregants anticipate    Sunday worship;
  • Interacts compassionately with parishioners and members of the wider community while dispensing aid as provided by various church mission arms.


FPCGG has encouraged Denise to be active in the Administrative Personnel Association so that she will have the knowledge to guide church decisions where appropriate. Her personal contacts have made it possible to secure information regarding the ways other churches problem solve. She regularly attends regional and national meetings. She has held positions as President, Past President, Membership and currently serving as Treasurer.


Denise also readily volunteers at such varied tasks as running bingo games for recreation after an all-church luncheon and organizing the packing of Christmas shoeboxes for children in need. If you want something done, ask Denise.
