"We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks." (Psalm 75:1)
The First Presbyterian Church (FPC) of Garden Grove was birthed on January 23, 1955, when Garden Grove was burgeoning with new home construction, many young families and lots of orange and walnut groves! Much has changed in Garden Grove since 1955, yet God's faithfulness and steadfast love are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Today we are a collection of people walking in faith, living in hope and acting in love as we journey through life together. As we gather together through worship, fellowship, study and service, we know the realities of life's peaks and valleys. We know that life happens. The unexpected interrupts and responsibilities overwhelm, joy breaks in and laughter lightens, challenges arise and opportunities unfold. Through all of life, together we hold firmly to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Walking in faith, we trust God to be our constant companion no matter what life brings. Living in hope, we see the potential of Spirit's transforming power for our lives, for the lives of others and for our community and world. Acting in love is possible because God first loved us. As Apostle Paul said, "God's love has been poured generously into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us." God's love empowers us to accept ourselves and to love others. By living faithfully in hope and love through Jesus Christ, we believe that God is calling us to bring a little bit of "heaven on earth" right here in Garden Grove!
Come and see, for God's faithfulness and steadfast love is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow!
