Romans 10:9-15 and Isaiah 12:1-5
"A Shout Heard Around the World"
Rev. Dr. Jack M. Loo
Sermon Focus: The song, "Amazing Grace" is one of the most familiar songs ever written. Not only is the music captivating, but the lyrics are soul-piercing. They speak of the undeserved favor God extends to us. Isaiah sings lyrics like that in the twelfth chapter of his book. His voice overflows with thanksgiving for God's kindness.

John 16:13-15 and Isaiah 30:15-21
"Checking Your Hearing"
Rev. Dr. Jack M. Loo
Sermon Focus: The people of Israel have known the care of a faithful God, yet they seem to have a short memory. They were delivered by God out of Egyptian slavery, but now they are looking back to Egypt for some worldly benefits. We too experience the world competing with God for our attention. Isaiah is calling us to listen to the faithful voice behind us saying, "This is the way."

John 1:10-14 and Isaiah 40:3-11
"Get Ready"
Rev. Dr. Jack M. Loo
Sermon Focus: The people of Israel were scattered from their land, robbed of their identity, robbed of hope. They were struggling with their faith in God. Into this discouraging setting Isaiah called on the people to have hope and to get ready, because God was coming to them. In times of our discouragement, the same God comes to us.

Ephesians 3:14-21 and Isaiah 40:28-31
"A Powerful Updraft"
Rev. Dr. Jack M. Loo
Sermon Focus: At this point we find Jerusalem destroyed, the Israelites exiled and wrapped in national hopelessness. Into that hopelessness comes the voice of God through the prophet Isaiah. Isaiah proclaims that God is coming to renew the strength of the people, and to lift them to a new hope. This message of hope is for us today as well.
