Sermon Focus: Christianity began in the middle of a Jewish religious culture. There was natural tension between those who believed in justification by the works of the law, and those who believed they were justified by faith in Christ. The Apostle Paul taught that people did not find spiritual life through religious ritual but by the indwelling Spirit of Christ.

Sermon Focus: According to the teachings of the Apostle Paul we are spiritually incarcerated by our sinfulness. So how do we get our soul out of that jail? Scripture tells us we become free by putting our faith in Jesus Christ and accepting his sacrifice on our behalf, a sacrifice that sets us free.

Sermon Focus: Jewish Christians said that their faith should include adherence to Jewish laws. They looked to the law to act as a kind of referee for their lives. Gentile Christians believed those laws should make way for the grace of Jesus Christ, who is the only one capable of managing the impossible standards of the law.
